Thinking of a beautiful plant for your office desk? You might want to consider Haworthia fasciata, also known as Zebra Cactus (although, it's not actually a cactus, but a succulent). This little succulent is a slow-growing, easy to care for houseplant that forms attractive rosette leaves, like those of Echeverias.

Here are some tips and information to attain optimal growing conditions:

1. Light -- Bright but not direct sun. Fluorescent lights should be just fine if you want to keep it on your office desk or anywhere indoors. If you have a window that lets in natural light, it is preferable to place it where the light hits.
2. Water -- Depending on your area, watering needs may vary, just be sure that the soil is totally dry between watering. Water evenly and generously in the summer. Reduce watering than usual if it's in an air-conditioned room. Never allow water to collect in the rosette.
3. Temperature -- Haworthias can live during hot summers and cold winters. It can survive even at temperatures as low as 50°F.
4. Soil -- Easy-draining soil that is rich with pumice is the ideal. Cactus mix or very fast-draining potting soil mixed with sand are also fine.
5. Fertilizer -- Not required but may be a good addition. Use a slow-release fertilizer with a balanced formula.
When it's already growing stable and ready for propagation, you can try to propagate it using the offsets from the mother plant.
Enjoy your Haworthia!
